The function of the Volunteer Fire Department is to protect lives and
property in both the City of Hereford and Deaf Smith County. Department
responsibilities include responding to residential and commercial
structure fires, hazardous material incidents, motor vehicle accidents
with injured or trapped persons, and as first responder on all life
threatening medical emergencies. The department is also responsible for
conducting fire prevention activities including inspections, plan
review, and public education. The Fire Marshal is the Emergency
Management Coordinator for the City of Hereford and Deaf Smith County.
